We have been getting lots of great feedback regarding the upcoming strategy meeting and the organizing committee has been hard at work pulling together your comments and suggestions in preparation. The date and agenda changes reflect the requests and recommendations from student and local organizers. While the strategizing meeting will serve as a preliminary focus group for a larger strategy meeting to be held in 2004, the nonviolence training is focused for people intending to make the trip down to Fort Benning this November.
The primary agenda points for the strategy session will focus on discussing the future of the SOAW movement (namely, how to launch a more effective campaign-especially with Congress, evaluating our strengths and weaknesses, and setting an agenda for early spring 2004 meeting). As a movement, we want to increase our effectiveness in closing the SOA in addition to working on related issues such as Colombia and the War on Drugs and the omnipresent War on Terrorism.
We are hoping that as many local organizers as possible can attend. If you are unavailable, we encourage you to recruit others from your region to attend this very important meeting. Please contact us as soon as possible regarding your availability so we can begin to plan for the weekend.
