"WAR NO MORE" PEACE CONVERGENCE

Join Fr. Roy Bourgeois and SOA Watch...**

Will you and/or your organization be one of the thousands of participants in the July 30 "Unity 2000" March in Philadelphia? If so, we ask that you consider joining SOA Watch, Veterans for Peace, United Students Against Sweatshop, Witness for Peace, Witness for Peace, 50 Years is Enough, Alliance for Global Justice, Peacekeepers Action Network, White Dog Cafe, Call to Action, Maryknoll Peace & Justice, Amnesty International (Group 112), Las Anonas, Jean Donovan Community Peace Center, St. Joseph's University Coalitions for Justice, and many others (see current list below) ... in the "War No More" Peace Convergence (a contingent of the "Unity 2000" march).

The convergence will take place the morning of the 30th and will be a mass mobilization of concerned individuals and organizations working on the SOA issue, and solidarity groups working on related peace and justice issues such as sweatshops, human rights, indigenous rights, unfair labor practices, militarism, economic justice, etc. We will gather at
9 am, at 15th & JFK Blvd (at "Love Park") -- join the march by 10 am -- and walk in solidarity throughout the entire march.

"A single voice among thousands stands alone, but a thousand voices united as one, stand to make a difference!"

Let us march together to defy those who contend that we are divided, and to express our solidarity with our sisters and brothers whose voices have been silenced... that we whole heartedly intend to speak the truth to those in power and to demand a departure from "business as usual."

Let us work together to confront the injustices of our government and the corporate power hogs, who wage a constant war against the poor through economic globalization -- which puts profits before people. We must confront these greedy measures which force our sisters and brothers into abject poverty and to struggle daily to put food on the table, to clothe and shelter their children, and to protect their families from the biological and conventional weapons of mass destruction.

Let us raise our voices against a system that rewards those who ignore and/or violate human rights for the sake of corporate gains and who intentionally work to destroy unions, student movements, church groups, and others who speak out on behalf of the poor and working class.

Let us put an end to the training of soldiers at the School of the Americas (SOA) which has caused unimaginable suffering and trauma and has led to the death and disappearance of tens of thousands.

Let us declare shame on a system that allows corporations to not only sell billions of dollars of weapons each year to tyrannical leaders -- at a cost of millions of lives -- but who also "buy out" government leaders by pumping millions of dollars into their pockets through campaign contributions.

Let us march together ... To see what a difference we can make!!!

Each of the participating groups will be represented in a joint press release. To maximize media outreach, we request that each group submit the name (and number) of a spokesperson who can be reached by the media prior to the march, as well as a cell # -- if one is available -- for interviews during the rally.
